WSP, an engineering consultancy will lead the design of a new hydrogen pipeline in the United Kingdom, to help the country reach its target of net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.
The pipeline project is known as HyNet, and it will be the most advanced hydrogen and carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS) project in the UK. The project includes the development of a new hydrogen pipeline for the North West of England and Northeast Wales.
The pipeline will connect hydrogen production plants with storage facilities in Cheshire. WSP will be responsible for the pipeline’s operational model, with such considerations as hydrogen flows, seasonal storage and AGI requirements.
The pipeline has been commissioned for Progressive Energy, on behalf of UK gas network Cadent. WSP, in partnership with Progressive Energy and Cadent, will work closely with regional partners on this project.
