Dow’s 2025 Sustainability Goals Reduce Emissions

Dow Chemical has announced it will reduce carbon emissions, make products reusable or recyclable, and increase recycling with the goal of being carbon neutral by 2050.As part of the company's 2025 sustainability plan, Dow will reduce net annual carbon emissions by 5 million metric tons over the next 10 years.

Alberta to Reinstate Env Monitoring in Industry

The Alberta government of Canada and its energy regulator have issued orders to resume environmental monitoring and reporting in industry, including oil patches, on July 15.Testing and reporting had been suspended in May due to health and staffing concerns related to the COVID-19 pandemic, but Environment Minister Jason Nixon says now is the time to resume, given the province is flattening the COVID-19 curve.“The temporary reporting relief provided through Environment and Parks allowed industry time to ensure the health and safety of staff and the communities in which they work,” Nixon said in a statement.

Methane-Emission Sensor Network Initiative

The University of Texas at Austin, the Environmental Defense Fund (EDF), ExxonMobil, the Gas Technology Institute (GTI) and Pioneer Natural Resources Company are collaborating on a network of sensors for emissions monitoring across the oil and gas process industry.Project Astra seeks to develop a sensor network that would continuously measure emissions of the greenhouse gas methane to locate potential leaks.

In May 2020, Utkilen, a shipping company, received delivery of their new vessel, Saltstraum, which is now ship number 4,000 worldwide in operation with Framo pumps on board.Framo has delivered pumps for chemical tankers since the end of the 1960s.
