Ron Merrick will be teaching the Industrial Valve Course, which will cover valves as pieces of equipment, how they work, and the main types commonly used in the Oil & Gas industry. Ron Merrick recently retired as a Senior Fellow and Director of Piping Material Engineering at Fluor Enterprises in Sugar Land, Texas after forty-five years in the industry.
The Industrial Valves Master class will be taught by Davi Sampaio Correia and will give a broader view of the different ancillary processes that surround a valve application, such as supplier auditing and prototype testing. Davi is a Senior Mechanical Engineer who has worked at a major Brazil-based oil company for the last 15 years. He has become one of the lead technical advisors on valve issues.
Additionally, the Fugitive Emissions Course taught by Rodney Roth will focus on the basics and serve as a refresher for industry professionals concerned with equipment, environmental issues, and industry standards and practices. Rodney has over 25 years of experience in the manufacturing, design, R&D, engineering, sales and marketing of stationary sealing solutions to include packing and gaskets.
Lastly, the Pipeline Valves Course will cover pipeline valves, design, manufacture, testing, and documentation for pipeline ball, check, gate, and plug valves for pressure ratings up to ASME class 2500. This course will be taught by Gilbert Alonzo, Mike Buras and Yhonny Flores. Gilbert Alonzo is a mechanical engineer who was once employed at Dow Chemical and BP Production and Exploration, as well as a subject-matter expert for valves.
