The Korea Radioactive Waste Agency (KORAD) and the Finnish waste management company Posiva have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to exchange technology and related knowledge on the proper disposal of high-level radioactive wastes.
The MoU was signed in Helsinki by KORAD CEO Sung-soo Cha, Posiva President Janna Mokka and Posiva Solutions Oy Managing Director Mika Pohjonen.
With this agreement, KORAD and Posiva will share information and experience on the disposal of high-level waste, as well as hold joint meetings and lead further research into the issue.
KORAD is a government organization established in January 2009 as part of South Korea’s national agency for radioactive waste management. It is responsible for the transportation, storage, treatment and disposal of waste, as well as management of the waste management facility.
