Large projects, such as a new refinery, are broken down in phases that progress in a logical sequence. FEED, detailed engineering and fabrication are some common terms to identify these phases. At some point in the timeline, valve procuring should start. If enough time is not left for negotiation with the suppliers and valve manufacturing, serious delays may plague construction.
